Gravitational Waves Detected

Scientists at Leibniz Universität Hannover play crucial role in discovery

The science team of Albert Einstein Institute at Leibniz Universität Hannover has helped make it possible: finding solid proof of gravitational waves. At the press conference, Professor Dr. Karsten Danzmann reminisces about the first steps that led to this milestone:  "No other German University dared to get involved in the obscure field of gravitational research.” Now, 100 years after Albert Einstein’s prediction, an international team of scientists holds a simultaneous press conference for the assembled media in Hanover and Washington to verify the existence of gravitational waves.
