The digital revolution may well be a bone of contention for artists. Does art become an appendage or the motor of the social processes it should critically accompany? Art cannot without losses evade the productive change which the new technologies are advancing. If it is understood to be at the same time a seismograph of the present and avant-garde, art needs to establish its own relationship with the new techniques and potentials, so that creativity can unfold in search of contemporary expression in specific forms and projects. In doing so it not only uses digital technology but also influences its development.
How do the arts and their recipients modify digital processes? How are the possibilities of reception and communication changing? How are the traditional concepts of authorship and creation holding their ground?
